Daniel Hefferton is certified under Sifu / Guro Grant Richardson (Infinity Fighting Systems – Ottawa Kali Fighting Arts) within the Guro Paul Vunak/ Guro Dan Inosanto lineage of JKDC and Inosanto/Lacoste Kali.  He has been an active instructor since 2007 and began studying martial arts in 1994.

His journey into Jeet Kune Do Concepts and Filipino Martial Arts began in 2002. While as a Combat Engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces, he completed a Basic Rapid Assault Tactics program, originally developed for the U.S. Navy SEALs. The intensive two day program involved getting knocked around the room, dumped on the floor and dodging rattan sticks. Motorcycle helmets and hockey gloves served as protective gear when necessary. Following that enlightening weekend, he began training as a student under Sifu / Guro Richardson.

In addition, he has trained with Sifu Grant Sawyer (Sunrise Martial Arts), and attended seminars with Guro Dan Inosanto (Inosanto Academy) in Montreal and Sifu Makoto Kabayama (JKD Family) in Toronto.

He has taught students from all of life and strives to adjust his teaching methods to meet the needs of anyone requiring instruction.  His mission is to teach his students how to trust themselves, focus their problem solving skills into game plans, and find humor in life.  Because nothing hits harder than life, hence the philosophy “Train to fight, Fight to live.”

Risk Mitigation has always been one of his core values.  His current profession is Emergency Management.
